Full time & Part Time Faculty Members

Full time Faculty Members

1. Full-time faculty ranks are: instructor, assistant professor, associate professor and professor.
2. Appointments to any rank are made according to regulations for recruitment.
3. Faculty contracts are four years of which the first two years are probationary.
4. The faculty contract may be renewed on the basis of rolling contract.

Visiting Faculty Member

A distinguished faculty member who is on leave from another college or university or from a comparable educational or research institution:

1. Appointment to this rank is either on a semester base or annual basis as visiting professor, visiting associate professor, or visiting assistant professor.
2. The same qualifications and procedures shall apply as for initial appointments to full-time faculty ranks.
3. Recommendations for reappointment of visiting faculty shall be made by the college to the vice president (provost).
4. A visiting faculty appointment may not be renewed for more than two consecutive years.
5. Visiting faculty member is entitled to specific resources and access to specific facilities of the university as determined by the Dean of the college to which he has been appointed.

Part Time Faculty Member

Below is a list of the policies and procedures adopted by AAU for part time faculty member:

1. A part-time faculty members is one whose major employment is not with AAU and whose teaching load is 6 hours or less per semester
2. the part-time faculty members are entitled to the professional privileges and compensations accorded to the full-time members
3. Part time faculty appointments are subjected to the university regulation for recruitments of faculty members
4. Qualifications of part time faculty is subjected to the same measures of full time faculty
5. Recommendation for part time faculty position shall be made by the department council and approved by the vice president (provost).
6. The duration of the contract of this position is for one semester.
7. The ratio of part-time faculty members in each academic program should not exceed 25% of the total staff members.
